Lake Taghkanic Trail Map
The official Lake Taghkanic State Park trail map, drawn by the State Parks GIS Bureau in November 2025, shows 12 trails that add up to about 13.3 miles. The longest is the white-blazed Lakeview Trail South at 4.96 miles. The map also marks the beach, bathhouse, cabins, cottages, camp store, recreation hall, scenic views and parking lots. What Else the Map Shows
The legend covers bathhouse, bridges, cabins, camp store, contact station, cottages, maintenance area, parking lots, park office, picnic pavilion, public restrooms, recreation hall, scenic views and the swimming area. The older park brochure adds a key to the lots and buildings:
- Lots A–F: picnic area parking.
- Lots 1–2: East Area parking.
- BH: boat house, where boats are rented.
- BL: west boat launch.
- BS: boat storage and east boat launch.
- LD: coin laundry.
- CS: camp store.
- PV: the Lot E picnic pavilion.
The West Beach bathhouse holds showers, restrooms, changing areas, a first aid room, the park office and the snack bar.
Other Official Maps
State Parks also publishes a hunting map, marking where hunting is allowed in season, and a disc golf course map. Hikers in fall should look at the hunting map before setting out; see rules and regulations.

State Parks lists the trail map on Avenza Maps, a phone app that shows your position on the map without a signal once downloaded. Cell coverage in the hills can be patchy, so download before you go.
The Map Will Grow
The 152 acres State Parks added in November 2024 sit at the northeast corner of the park, and the announcement says the land will expand the trail network. The 2025 map is the current word until a new one is published.
